Hot Sauce Duo Pack
Carrier Package and Container Labels
G333 - Package Design - Course Project
We were given a course project to develop labels and a carrier for a duo pack/gift set from a specific list of products. The list of products was conjoined with the specific company that we must use their logo as the focal point on th eproducts themselves. I chose to do a duo pack of hot sauces for the mock company Eat Up Gourmet Foods.
Starting with the simple creation of shape for the label on the bottles, I then created a die-line template (with accurate measurements) to use for sketching the imagery and layout thumbnails. Once settled on a specific design, I refined the sketch and then created the full color label in Adobe Illustrator. I then used an adhesive to attatch them to the bottles as a prototype.
The next step was the carrier. I created a die-line using the measure ments of the bottles. The carrier would have an open top with a small handle, and a fold-in bottom to add strength while carrying the glass bottles. After a few minor adjustments on the measurements, I was ready to develop the imagery and layout on the carrier. I created a series of thumbnail sketches centered around the labels of the bottles, and decided to combine different aspects of the various sketches to create a much more unified layout. After refining and creating the full design in Adobe Illustrator, I took the press-ready PDF to a professional printer, and got the prototype printed out.
The design is solid and the carrier is more than strong enough to carry the glass bottles, while giving a strong representation of the products individually and as a set, with the focus being on the company name.
Here is the final label dielines and physical prototypes.
